The Meena is a tribe found mainly in the Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh regions of India.

The Meenas claim connection to the Matsya avatar of Vishnu and the ancient Matsya Kingdom (6th Century BC). For generations, the women of the Meena tribe have been decorating the walls and floors of their homes with a stunning form of public art both graphic and decorative known as Mandana painting. Apart from the walls and floors these women also started decorating furniture, household items, jewelry and gemstones.
