Info Emile Gallé (1846 – 1904)

The first works were in plain glass with enamel decorations, but soon Gallé designed his own style with heavy, opaque glass that was either engraved or acid etched with mainly plant motifs
The top of his fame was in 1889, with the Paris Exhibition, where he presented works with naturalistic touch and very colorful floral motifs. In fact, he was a co-founder of the new trend setting: Art Nouveau. At the end of his life, new techniques were tried out such as the processing of metal foil and air bubbles. After his death, the factory was further led by his wife and family members, as well as a reputed glass maker, Eugène Rosseau, until the end of 1936. This vase is in excellent condition and was a ‘jewel’ amidst the typical Gallé glass maker art.
