Both lid and ink slab are made of Cheng Ni, which makes it very special and expensive

Cheng Ni is a kind of famous and precious stone produced in Shanxi province, China

Characters on the surface of the lid show the origin of the inkstone

Artist’s Seal and signature on the reverse side of the ink slab
